The Research Sector at Kuwait University seeks to achieve a qualitative shift in the research infrastructure to provide an ideal environment for researchers to conduct high-quality research. Within this framework, grants have been provided for general facilities to support research projects and provide advanced laboratories and high-tech devices in various colleges, while providing them with trained personnel and the necessary technical support to operate and maintain these devices. The basic research facilities in all colleges have also been developed and expanded, with the aim of facilitating advanced experiments, accurate analysis and in-depth scientific studies in various fields such as nanotechnology, proteomics, genomics, cell and spectroscopic biology, and other advanced fields.

In this context, Kuwait University has established many distinguished research centers and units. Among them is the Health Sciences Center, the Research Core Center (RCF), which provides the necessary equipment to support research in the fields of robotics, proteomics, genomics, and cell biology. The center also has additional projects under general facilities grants to enhance its equipment assets and expand the scope of research.

The Specialized Research Unit (SRUL) was also established in the College of Dentistry, which focuses on conducting research that addresses oral health in Kuwait, while addressing local issues and providing evidence-based solutions. In the same context, the College of Engineering and Petroleum developed the Engineering Science Facilities (ESF) that aims to enhance research in nanotechnology and advanced petroleum and petrochemical industries.

The Research Sector Projects Unit (RSPU) is one of the leading laboratory facilities in the College of Science, with world-class facilities. The Research Sector is working to expand and develop these facilities to meet the needs of advanced experiments in the departments of physics, chemistry, and biological sciences, in addition to meeting the research needs of all other colleges. The National Unit for Environmental Research and Services (NUERS) is considered an essential part of the College of Science, providing integrated analytical services to support environmental research.

The development and expansion of research facilities in Kuwait University colleges are prominent examples of how the concept of general facilities projects enables research units in colleges. These initiatives contribute to transforming existing resources into advanced technology centers, which enhances the university’s ability to conduct advanced scientific research and reflects its commitment to developing scientific capabilities and enhancing the quality of research at Kuwait University.

Kuwait University’s efforts in enhancing institutional capacity building make it a role model in developing advanced scientific analysis facilities. For more information about public facilities projects and research units, visit the Fourth Scientific Research Conference entitled “Research Collaboration: The Impact of Scientific Research on Strategic Planning and Academic Classification”, held under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Nader Al-Jalal, on Monday and Tuesday, February 17-18, 2025, at the Conference Center - Sabah Al-Salem University City.

Our aspirations are limitless, so be part of Kuwait’s vision.
