Kuwait University Continues Supporting Its Inventors at the 15th International Invention Fair in the Middle East

As part of its ongoing commitment to scientific research and innovation, a group of distinguished faculty members from Kuwait University participated in the 15th International Invention Fair in the Middle East, organized by Kuwait Science Club from February 16 to 19, 2025. This participation led to remarkable scientific achievements that reflect the high quality of the university’s research and its registered patents.
The Research Sector at Kuwait University proactively invited patent-holding researchers whose innovations are registered under the university’s name to take part in this prestigious scientific event. Four faculty members participated with five patents, winning multiple awards and medals that highlight their research excellence and leadership in their respective fields. The results were as follows:
•    Prof. Bader Shafaqa Al-Anzi received the gold medal with honors and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport Award.
•    Dr. Nawaf Faisal Al-Juwaihel and his research team — Dr. Nasser Al-Sayegh, Dr. Hussein Behzad, and Dr. Ali Al-Sayegh — received a gold medal.
•    Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Abdullah and his research team — Eng. Sheikha Khaled Al-Masoud, Eng. Amina Al-Awadhi, Eng. Muneera Al-Ghannam, and Eng. Asmaa Al-Enezi — earned a bronze medal.
•    Dr. Yaqoub Abdulrahman Hashim and Dr. Ahmed Ali Al-Shamasi were awarded a silver medal.
•    Dr. Nawaf Faisal Al-Juwaihel, alongside Dr. Nasser Al-Sayegh and Eng. Abbas Hamoud, also secured another silver medal for a separate invention.
The Research Sector covered all financial costs associated with the participants’ involvement in the exhibition, reaffirming its dedication to supporting outstanding researchers and fostering innovation within the academic community.
In a related initiative, the Research Sector nominated two patents for exhibition participation from Dr. Mohammed Al-Ansari (College of Medicine) and Dr. Osama Al-Omair (College of Engineering and Petroleum), based on specific selection criteria and in coordination with the GCC Secretariat’s Patent Office. Their participation led to honorable achievements:
•    Dr. Mohammed Al-Ansari received the gold medal with honors, in addition to the WIPO Award for Kuwaiti Inventors.
•    Dr. Osama Al-Omair, along with his research team—Eng. Niyazu Chris and Eng. Ahmed Omar—won the silver medal.
These achievements reflect Kuwait University’s strong commitment to fostering a dynamic research environment and supporting inventors, in line with its vision to elevate the quality of its scientific output and to position innovation as a cornerstone of sustainable development. They also highlight the university’s prestigious standing in the field of scientific research, both locally and internationally.
