
Under the presence of the Minister of Education, H.E. Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabatabaei, Kuwait University hosted the closing ceremony of the Kuwait Cybersecurity Champions Competition on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Cultural Center in Sabah Al-Salem University City. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education and Edraak Company, under the patronage of the National Cybersecurity Center, and in strategic partnership with Zain Telecommunications. Attendees included Acting Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Mohammad Hussein Bin Sabt, Acting Vice Dean of the College, Dr. Faris Al-Azmi, Acting Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sanafi, Acting Head of the National Cybersecurity Center, Mr. Nasser Sayed Majed Sayed Hashem, and Mr. Waleed Al-Khashti, Chief Corporate Communications and Institutional Affairs Officer at Zain.
On this occasion, H.E. Minister of Education Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabatabaei delivered a speech emphasizing that the Kuwait Cybersecurity Champions Competition aims to promote digital awareness and build a qualified national cadre in the field of cybersecurity, enhancing Kuwait’s capabilities in addressing future technological challenges and ensuring information security.
Minister Al-Tabatabaei stated that this initiative stems from a firm belief in the importance of investing in the potential of Kuwaiti youth and developing their skills in a critical domain such as cybersecurity—enabling them to protect themselves and their communities from cyber threats and contribute to the development of a strong and prosperous digital economy.
He added that the competition represents a golden opportunity for students to discover their passion and enhance key competencies in areas such as critical thinking, problem-solving, programming, and data analysis—preparing them to become future leaders in cybersecurity and technological innovation, particularly in light of the rapid pace of digital transformation and increasing cybersecurity challenges.
The Minister encouraged students to continue exploring, learning, and innovating, stating that Kuwait deserves the innovation, creativity, and achievements of its youth, and expressing his hope for more accomplishments at both local and international levels.

For his part, Prof. Mohammad Al-Mulla, Vice President for Academic Support Services at Kuwait University, expressed his pleasure—on behalf of the University President, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem—in hosting this distinguished scientific forum, which reflects a shared commitment to empowering future generations to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving digital world.
Prof. Al-Mulla affirmed that Kuwait University, as an academic institution committed to innovation, academic excellence, and sustainability, is proud to host this prestigious competition in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Center, the Ministry of Education, Edraak Company, and strategic partner Zain. This collaboration reflects the University's vision to prepare a digitally literate generation equipped to safeguard the nation’s cyberspace and reinforce cybersecurity as a cornerstone of the technological revolution.
He commended the exceptional performance of the participating students, noting their enthusiasm, passion, and technical skill in advancing their cybersecurity capabilities—an indicator of growing awareness about the importance of data protection and combating cyber threats.
Prof. Al-Mulla emphasized that such initiatives go beyond technical enrichment, contributing significantly to the development of leadership, critical thinking, and creativity—qualities Kuwait University strives to foster in its students.
He extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to all contributors—organizers, trainers, and judges—and especially to the participating students for their spirit of challenge and innovation.
Prof. Al-Mulla also congratulated the competition winners and urged all participants to continue developing their skills, emphasizing that the digital future awaits, and that Kuwait is counting on its youth to build a secure and advanced national cybersecurity infrastructure.
In conclusion, Prof. Al-Mulla reaffirmed Kuwait University’s commitment to supporting initiatives that advance education and innovation in technical fields, expressing hope for more impactful initiatives that will shape a brighter future for students and the nation.
In the same context, Acting Head of the National Cybersecurity Center, Mr. Nasser Sayed Majed Sayed Hashem, expressed his delight, noting that this pioneering initiative is more than just a competition—it is a significant step toward preparing a generation that is aware and conscious of the vital role of cybersecurity in everyday life.
He added, “Engaging students at this early stage reflects our ambition to instill a culture of digital safety and develop the skills necessary to tackle future challenges in the digital world.”
Mr. Hashem noted that the participants presented innovative projects before the judging panel, showcasing strong technical and practical skills, as well as teamwork—core components in confronting the diverse threats in the cyber landscape. He affirmed that Kuwait possesses promising talent capable of achieving excellence in this vital field.
Addressing the students, Mr. Hashem said:
“You are our hope for a secure future. You are the cybersecurity champions of Kuwait. Hold on to your passion and keep refining your skills, for your role is essential in building a safe and thriving digital society.”
