
Under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs and Family and Childhood Affairs, and in the presence of Prof. Jassem Al-Hamdan, Acting Dean of Student Affairs—representing Kuwait University President, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem—Kuwait University hosted the Second Career Fair for People with Disabilities, organized by the Public Authority for Disability Affairs in collaboration with the Human Construction Society for Social Development, at Sabah Al-Salem University City.
In her speech at the opening ceremony, Dr. Al-Huwailah expressed her pleasure in sponsoring the event, noting that the fair crowns the efforts of the national initiative “Partners in Their Employment”, launched in 2018 with the support of the Ministry of Social Affairs, with the aim of enhancing the integration of people with disabilities into the labor market and providing employment opportunities that align with their abilities and needs.
Dr. Al-Huwailah affirmed that disability has never been and will never be a barrier for those who possess determination and perseverance. She praised graduates with disabilities as honorable examples of Kuwaitis who excel under all circumstances. She added that the fair is not only a hiring event but a national and humanitarian message emphasizing Kuwait's commitment to supporting its citizens with disabilities and integrating them into society as genuine partners in building the country’s future.
She also announced the launch of a new initiative titled “Partners in Their Training,” launched by the Human Construction Society for Social Development, which aims to develop the skills of individuals with disabilities and empower them professionally—an additional step toward greater success and achievement.
Dr. Al-Huwailah concluded her statements by thanking all those involved in organizing and supporting the fair, emphasizing that Kuwaitis with disabilities are writing an inspiring and proud chapter in the nation’s history.
For his part, Prof. Jassem Al-Hamdan, Acting Dean of Student Affairs at Kuwait University, expressed the university’s pride in hosting this national event. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to its social responsibility and its active role in promoting equal opportunities and supporting all segments of society.
Prof. Al-Hamdan noted that the fair also celebrates the graduation of the sixth class of the “Partners in Their Employment” initiative for the 2024–2025 training year, comprising 123 participants who are now fully prepared to enter the workforce, thanks to the unwavering belief in their abilities.
He concluded his speech by praying for the continued success of Kuwait’s sons and daughters with disabilities and blessed all efforts aimed at empowering and integrating them into society.
The event included a tour of the exhibition, which featured participation from various public and private sector entities, all showcasing their services and programs dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities. The fair provided visitors with a valuable opportunity to learn about the available resources and institutional efforts that contribute to the successful integration of people with disabilities into the workforce and community.
