As part of the continuous efforts of Kuwait University, the Research Sector in cooperation with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) organized a symposium entitled "Prospects for Scientific Research Support: Research Grants and Capacity Building Programs" in the southern lobby of the College of Science, presented by the Research and Technology Management (RTD) Advisor, Prof. Ali Boumejdad, the Director of the Research Capacity Building Department, Dr. Abrar Al-Mousa, the Director of the Research and Technology Activation Department, Eng. Dina Al-Naqeeb, and the Grants Management Systems Engineer, Eng. Mai Al-Otaibi, in the presence of Acting Vice President for Research, Prof. Mai Al-Bader, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, Prof. Nouriya Al-Kandari, Assistant Vice President for Research Implementation and Financing, Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra, Assistant Vice President for Research Development and Analysis, Dr. Nasser Al-Tannak, and Acting Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Suzanne Al-Bustan, and Acting Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Mohammad Bin Sabt. 
At the beginning, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, Prof. Nouriya Al-Kandari, explained that the symposium was held in cooperation with (KFAS) addressing financial support for researchers from the academic body at Kuwait University, with the participation of many interested researchers from research institutions outside Kuwait University who are bound by agreements and cooperation protocols to answer all questions and inquiries received from researchers regarding the mechanism for providing financial support or research grants by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, indicating that the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences will open its session in mid-January to provide researchers with a cohesive picture of these grants, their types, and the method of application, raising researchers awareness and keeping them informed of these matters and facilitate the application process to obtain financial support or research grants. 
For his part, Assistant Vice President for Research Development and Analysis, Dr. Nasser Al-Tannak, explained that this symposium supports researchers from Kuwait University and several other scientific bodies, pointing out that it addressed how to submit research with KFAS and the method that facilitates research project submission through a clear and defined process. 
In turn, the Acting Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Suzanne Al-Bustan, expressed her happiness to host the workshop and symposium which was organized by the Research Sector represented by the Office of External Collaboration and Consultation with Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, presenting the curriculum and mechanism for supporting scientific research from Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, indicating that this initiative aims to familiarize researchers in the College of Science and other colleges at Kuwait University with the submission mechanism and encourage them to acquire financial support from Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences for research activities in which graduate students participate. She also pointed out that holding such a symposium is a successful and important step. 
The symposium also included a segment for questions, inquiries and discussions.
