
Dr. Nawaf Al-Hajri, faculty member in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the College of Life Sciences, has won the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation 2025 in the category of Pioneering Development and Productive Projects, as part of the award's 17th edition.

On this occasion, Dr. Al-Hajri stated that this recognition reflects the efforts invested in developing sustainable agricultural projects and the commitment to research and innovation in support of food and water security and sustainable development. He extended his sincere gratitude to the award organizers, as well as to Kuwait University and Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS)—the main supporters of his research journey.
Dr. Al-Hajri is considered one of the leading names in his field, having contributed numerous scientific studies and applied projects that have played a key role in advancing and sustaining the agricultural and environmental sectors.
It is worth noting that this prestigious award was launched in 2007 by the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the United Arab Emirates, with the aim of promoting and encouraging agricultural innovation and expanding global research on date palm cultivation. The award serves as a platform to recognize and honor individuals and institutions from around the world who have made outstanding contributions in this field. It also functions as an annual forum for the exchange of expertise and knowledge, fostering international collaboration and connection among diverse communities.
