With the sponsorship from the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), the Office of the Assistant Dean for Planning, Consulting and Training at the College of Life Sciences organized the closing ceremony of the second competition for life sciences “Partners in Development and Education” for secondary school students from public and private schools. The closing ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 9th, at the College of Life Sciences in Sabah Al-Salem University City.
The ceremony was attended by the Acting President of Kuwait University Prof. Fahad Al-Dubais Al-Rashidi, the Deputy Director General for Strategic Programs at KFAS Dr. Khawla Al-Shayji, the Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences and the Chairman of the Kuwait Second Life Sciences Competition Committee, Dr. Nawaf Al-Hajri, and the head administrator in the College of Life Sciences, Saleh Al-Muslim, in addition to faculty members, Ministry of Education representatives, staff, participating students and their parents.
The Acting President of Kuwait University Prof. Fahad Al-Dubais Al-Rashidi welcomed the attendees and said that Kuwait University gives great importance to education, and always encourages creative thinking. He added that the participation of male and female students in this competition reflects the extent of awareness and interest in scientific research, noting that scientific research is the real investment that advances our nation. He extended his sincere thanks to the sponsors and organizers of this event.
The Deputy Director General for Strategic Programs at KFAS Dr. Khawla Al-Shayji expressed her happiness for her presence in this scientific forum at the College of Life Sciences. She said that KFAS sponsored this competition which aims to encourage high school students to transform their ideas into technological work and motivate them to develop and refine their research and knowledge skills to find appropriate solutions to the various challenges facing society. She added that the management of KFAS pays special attention to youth and supports pioneering projects and ideas in Kuwait.
The Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences and the Chairman of the Kuwait Second Life Sciences Competition Committee, Dr. Nawaf Al-Hajri welcomed the audience at the College of Life Sciences, which is considered one of the first educational institutions in Kuwait to offer these life science disciplines, and to enrich the Kuwaiti labor market with ambitious youth energies. Dr. Al-Hajri praised the participating students’ level of research and awareness, and he extended his thanks to the Acting President of Kuwait University for supporting the competition.
The ceremony included honoring the sponsors of the event KFAS and the Commercial Bank of Kuwait and the judges of the competition. The winners were announced and honored by the President of the University.
