In conjunction with Kuwait’s celebrations of national holidays and to consolidate the spirit of national belonging, Kuwait University organized the celebration of the National Day and the Liberation Day under the patronage of the Acting President of Kuwait University Prof. Fahad Al-Dubais Al-Rashidi. The celebration was held on Wednesday February 15th in the lobby of the Administration Building in Sabah Al-Salem University City. The event was attended by His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Chung Byung-ha, representatives of embassies of sister countries, university leaders, deans of colleges, department directors, employees, students and representatives of participating external parties. In presence was also the distinguished Kuwaiti actor Mr. Jassim Al-Nabhan.
The Acting President of Kuwait University, Prof. Fahad Al-Dubais Al-Rashidi, congratulated the attendees on the happy occasion. He recalled the sacrifices of the martyrs and the efforts of the ancestors, from which we draw the light of giving, belonging and love for the homeland.
Prof. Al-Rashidi pointed out that this celebration is considered the first of its kind in Sabah Al-Salem University City, which was named after the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem (May he rest in peace). He thanked the audience and the participants of the event.
The opening ceremony included a touching speech by the distinguished actor, Jassim Al-Nabhan, in which he expressed feelings of love, loyalty and belonging to Kuwait. The students Abdulaziz Lo from the Republic of Senegal and student Saba Al-Fadhli participated with poems about patriotism. A musical performance was presented by the Ministry of the Interior Band, with the participation of the Qurain Folklore Ensemble.
The event also included an exhibition with participants from several faculties, departments and work centers. Many external bodies participated in the exhibition including: the Ministry of Interior, Environment Public Authority, the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), the National Library of Kuwait, Representatives of the UN Office in Kuwait, Kuwait Hot Road Team, Kuwait Fire Force, KUNA, Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Public Authority for Youth, National Assembly, KOC, and the Ministry of Defense. The celebration was sponsored by Kuwait Finance House and the National Bank of Kuwait.
