Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and in the presence of the Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations’ Affairs Abdul Aziz Saud Al-Jarallah as his representative, Kuwait University hosted the United Nations Day “Youth Driving Ambition for Climate Change”. This year marks the 77th anniversary of the United Nations establishment, and 60 years since Kuwait became a member of the UN. The event was held in Kuwait University in the Cultural Center in Sabah Al-Salem University City, in the presence of dignitaries, diplomats and university leaders.
The representative of His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations’ Affairs, Abdulaziz Saud Al-Jarallah, expressed his great happiness to participate in the celebration, which is an opportunity to renew the commitment and adherence to the purposes and provisions of the UN. He thanked the President of Kuwait University for hosting, the representative of the UN Secretary-General and the resident coordinator in Kuwait, and all those in charge and concerned with organizing the event.
The President of Kuwait University, Professor Yousef Muhammad Al-Roumi, expressed his pride in hosting the UN Day celebrations at Kuwait University. He considered the celebration an opportunity for positive openness, communication and influence with different civilizations and cultures.
The representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Resident Coordinator in Kuwait, Dr. Tariq Azmi Alsheikh, welcomed the official guests of the ceremony, and extended his gratitude to the President of the University and the assigned university team. He also welcomed the representative of the guest of honor, the ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps in Kuwait.
The celebration included an exhibition with participations from many countries and authorities. It also included several panel discussions.
