In collaboration with a group of top scientists around the world, Dr. Fahad Al-Sanafi and Dr. Muhammad Al-Mukaimi published a paper ‘Diplomacy in the World’s Hottest Sea’. The paper was published in Science magazine, one of the most prestigious scientific journals (impact factor 47.5).
The Arabian Gulf countries face a major environmental challenge as they are located next to the hottest sea in the world, especially during summer. This makes the countries vulnerable to the main environmental challenge of the century, which is climate change. The gulf countries are adopting several strategies and plans to limit the effects of this problem.
This research can provide a model for other countries around the world. The aim of the research is unifying efforts despite political differences, focusing on data exchange, allocating funds for scientists, and planning future marine reserves between the countries.
