The Acting President of Kuwait University Chaired the University Council Meeting

The Secretary General of Kuwait University, Dr. Muthanna Talib Al- Rifaie, stated that the University Council held its meeting no. (3/ 2021) today, Wednesday 7/4/2021, chaired by the Acting President of Kuwait University, Prof. Fayez A. Al-Dhafiri. The council discussed the articles on the agenda, and approved on the meeting No. (2/2021), which was held on 7/3/2021, and reviewed the follow-up report of the Council's decisions of the meeting No. (2/2021).
Dr. Al-Rifaie indicated that the University Council approved the proposal of the Vice President for Academic Support, regarding the regulations of supplying, pricing and selling Arabic textbooks for Student Bookshop. Adding that the proposal of the Deanship of Admission and Registration, regarding the "academic calendar" was approved for all colleges, including College of Law and Colleges of Health Sciences Center for the academic years (2021/2022) and (2022/2023).
Dr. Al-Rifaie clarified that the University Council has reviewed the response of the Department for Legal Advice and Legislation, concerning the university’s request to provide an opinion on the legal status of the land allocated to Kuwait University within the service axis of Sabah Al-Ahmad residential city. Also, the extent to which the university may start the design and implementation of a multi-purpose university building construction project, to meet the needs of residents of Sabah Al-Ahmad residential city and its surrounding areas, in light of the decisions of the University Council in its meeting No. (1/2019) on 28/4/2019, and No. (6/2020) on 27/12/2020.
Secretary General said that the University Council reviewed the final report of the committee of "establishing a plan and mechanism for the return of Kuwait University students to traditional study”. The plan of the gradual return of study for the academic year (2021-2022) was approved. Providing that the health authorities agree with a recommendation to urgently vaccinate faculty members and students.
Dr. Al-Rifaie added that the University Council has approved the College of Public Health temporary housing on the second floor of the Southern Building of the College of Life Sciences (Sabah Al-Salem University City), until the College of Public Health building is completed on the medical campus.
Dr. Al-Rifaie declared that the Council approved the proposal of some colleges to promote (12) faculty members to the rank of Professor and Associate Professor from various colleges, where (9) faculty members in Humanities and Social colleges, and (3) in practical colleges have been promoted, as follows:
