Under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber AlMubarak AlHamad AlSabah and in the presence of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Mr. Saad AlKharraz, the College of Law at Kuwait University held its annual conference entitled "Fighting Corruption: Challenges and Strategic Solutions" at Othman Abdulmalik Auditorium, in Shuwaikh Campus.
The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mr. Saad AlKharraz, delivered a speech on behalf of the Prime Minister for this conference and its important objectives to combat corruption, highlighting the most important challenges and methods of developing solutions and strategies that contribute to combating corruption of all kinds. Especially with the spread of corruption in all international societies, that requires concerted efforts to combat the phenomenon of negative impact on societies, and the development and prosperity.

AlKharraz added that the importance of this conference lies in shedding light on the concept of corruption from the perspective of national and international laws and the extent of its damage to national, investment and development projects, as well as the national legislation, which in turn limits its image, and to clarify the role of regulators in combating it.
At the end of his speech, AlKharraz thanked the Faculty of Law for this generous invitation in the presence of the constellation of participants in the conference from various concerned parties to cover all social, economic, security and legal aspects related to combating corruption to reach the best solutions that contribute to combating this negative phenomenon.
For his part, Dean of College of Law Prof. Fayez AlDhafiri welcomed Minister of Social Affairs Mr. Saad AlKharraz and the President of Kuwait University Prof. Hussein AlAnsari, faculty members from the college, visiting guests and students of the Faculty of Law. The Dean said: "Since its independence, the State of Kuwait has issued the Kuwaiti Penal Code No. 16 of 1960, which is one of the most important objectives of combating crime and corruption in all its forms. The Kuwaiti legislator has shown through the time experience that these laws have been applied that they do not meet the need to fight corruption and are deficient. After research and investigation, it has been found that the fight against corruption is not through one branch of law. It is not limited to the Penal Code, although it is important, but is related to a variety of laws that will be discussed by the Conference of the College of Law on Combating Corruption this year through participants in research papers.”

For her part, a faculty member at the College of Law Dr. Bashayer AlMajid is pleased to participate in the opening of the annual conference "Fighting Corruption, Challenges and Strategic Solutions". She congratulated the College of Law at Kuwait University for its initiative to raise this bold issue, which comes at a time when tackling corruption is a global and national priority, because corruption is very costly.

Dr. AlMajid added that this conference organized by the blood of young Kuwaiti professors graduated from the oldest and most prestigious international universities are keen on innovation in the development of strategies to prevent corruption and fight it because of its social and material losses of high cost of decline in the level of services and public utilities, and shaking the confidence of citizens in their society. Noting that the fight against corruption and the restoration of confidence falls within the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him to build a new Kuwait 2035.
At the end of her speech, Dr. Bashayer AlMajid called to fight corruption and defend the foundations of integrity for the bright future of our beloved country Kuwait and wish the success of this conference to achieve its desired goal.
The conference included three dialogue sessions to discuss the latest developments in combating corruption in the presence of representatives from the Kuwaiti Anti-Corruption Authority and the Kuwaiti Public Prosecution, the Dean of the Faculty of Law of Istanbul Civil University, and a number of professors and researchers from the College of Law at Kuwait University and the Kuwait International Law School and professors of sociology and anthropology at Kuwait University.
