The First Group of Pharmacists Graduated from "Doctor of Pharmacy" Program at Kuwait University

Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Pierre Morrow , College of Pharmacy celebrated the graduation of ten pharmacists from "Doctor of Pharmacy" program (two years after the bachelor's degree) for the first time at Kuwait University.
The College of Pharmacy offered this program in the academic year of 2016-2017 and the duration of study is two years. The first year includes lectures, practical courses and training. The second year is field training in hospitals and clinics under the supervision of pharmacists and trained doctors. Ensuring that students acquire the necessary skills to provide all advanced pharmaceutical services after graduation.

Graduates of this program are prepared and trained to provide all pharmacy services, including clinical pharmacy. In addition, the graduates of "Doctor of Pharmacy" Program can fulfill the pharmacist's duties such as dispensing medical prescriptions, preparing pharmaceutical preparations in clinics and hospitals and working in the regulatory bodies of Ministry of Health. Graduates of this new program are also prepared to provide additional pharmacy services such as providing pharmaceutical care to patients by proposing and following up the safety and effectiveness of the treatment plan in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
In addition, The pharmacist provides the necessary guidance for the safe and optimal use of medicines by reviewing the use of medicines for each patient separately and engage in public health issues to advocate a healthy lifestyle.
