The Department of Health Informatics and Information Management hosted Professor Sinead Brophy and representative team from Swansea University, Wales, UK

The Department of Health Informatics and Information Management at the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Kuwait University, hosted Professor Sinead Brophy and representative team from the Health Informatics Group at the Medical School, Swansea University, Wales, UK.
The invitation to visit the Department was the result of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in June 2017, which included official cooperation between the Health Informatics Group at the Medical School, University of Swansea, and the Department. Strengthening the MoU is an obligation to work together to explore areas of research and teaching specialization, as well as to share knowledge in the field of health informatics and health data sciences.

Dr. Eiman Al-Jafar, the Acting Chairperson of the Health Informatics and Information management Department at the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences stated that “We’re looking forward to a rewarding and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Swansea University Medical School’s Health Informatics research and teaching team.”
During the visit, the Swansea’s Health Informatics team presented a series of lectures and workshops to the Health Science Center and specifically to the department of Health Informatics & Information Management. The two sides also identified and developed joint research projects that would make a real difference in the health of the people in Kuwait, in addition, the team reviewed the department curriculum to ensure that the curriculum is ready for international academic accreditation

Both parties also agreed on joint development and / or delivery of health informatics taught courses. Furthermore, the Department of Health Informatics at Kuwait University will be co-supervising Masters’ & PhD projects on health informatics research for Kuwaiti students to be undertaken with Health Informatics Group at Swansea University’s Medical School.
