A group of students from Department of Earth and Environment Sciences in Kuwait University participated in the GEO18 conference that took place in Bahrain. The students were guided by professor Mohammad Naqi who is a member in the teaching staff of the scientific department. The conference was organized by the American Society of Petroleum Geologists. Kuwait University's team came in 3rd place among top universities from around the middle east including countries such as Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon.
This contest is considered one of the most important events conducted by the American Society of Petroleum Geologists for university students. The study is conducted within a period of eight weeks under the supervision of professors and a variety of the best technology use. Students must study the availability of petroleum and gas that are within the earth's core, and they must come up with the best way to make use of it. The contest is judged by a board of Geologists.
