In the name of Allah, most gracious and most Merciful,
Welcome ladies and gentlemen, our esteemed guests, our fellow colleagues, and future doctors.
I am pleased and humbled to stand in front of you, to welcome you and announce the beginning of our 6th Annual conference of breast and oncoplastic disease. I am also pleased to announce that we will incorporate the 1st Kuwait Endocrine surgery. I am thankful for all of you who graced us with their attendance and your amazing contributions, all of which will certainly prosper our medical education and healthcare of our country to the highest levels.
Dear guests, since we first thought of this conference in 2009, the organising committee was aiming to improve our protocols and management of breast related diseases through keynote lectures and workshops. All of which attracted the best and the brightest from all around the world. All of whom with the help with the latest medical evidence sought a common goal; improve our diagnosis skills, improve our management and reconstruction skills.
This was achieved by presenting the latest research and evidence and discussing their methods and results. We were pleased to have our colleagues from the primary care department who helped us host special sessions for the public. We expanded and brought in great international speakers, each being a master of a different specialty who helped us in organising workshops and later began to host live surgeries that were broadcasted out of Mubarak Hospital Operating Theatre. These sessions were great learning tools for our surgical residents who not only attended but also participated in these surgeries.
We later incorporated live audience participation through wireless electronic voting and in our 5th conference in 2014 we shifted our focus to discuss topics that were of, not only local but also, international importance which were of great medical debate.
In this year, we aim to focus on research and evidence that is related to the genetic composition and hereditary nature of breast disease and how to manage these cases in our surgical clinics. We shall also discuss the latest evidence and advances in breast reconstruction during and after the primary surgeries and the role of our colleagues in the plastics and radiology departments with their experience in managing these cases.
The aim is to establish the perfect multi-disciplinary team that works as a single unit to focuse on perfecting the management of breast disease and reconstruction. All to improve the outcome of our patients.
Ladies and gentlemen, due to the close relationship of the breast surgery specialty to the endocrine surgery specialty, like in many neighbouring countries. Our committee is happy to announce of the incorporation of the 1st Kuwait Endocrine Surgery conference to our 6th Conference. We are pleased to say that both days 2 and 3 are focused on endocrine surgery related topics. We hope that we’ll be able to continue this collaboration in the many years to come.
With the help of almighty god, we were able to take some major leaps towards better education and health care of our women who represent nearly half of our population. And we strongly believe that with the incorporation of the endocrine surgery conference, the horizon gets closer and benefit shall bestow to our students, residents, and doctors. All of which will drastically improve the healthcare of our patients and country.
In this year’s conference we are happy to present you great local surgeons and physicians from Kuwait, great leaders from our neighbouring GCC and fellow Arab countries and great leader from the UK and Europe.
We shall start our conference today and during it’s three days we shall discuss the latest and most debatable evidence regarding breast disease and reconstructive surgery. Aiming to try to reduce the morbidity and mortality of our patients. We shall also discuss the latest minimally invasive and non-surgical interventions that we can offer our patients.
We shall also discuss the latest and most debatable evidence in the field of endocrine surgery focusing on the thyroid, para-thyroid and adrenal glands.
We aim to make things clear and concise for our fellow residents and students while also aiming to improve and raise the bar of our current specialists.
We are also please to announce that alongside our conference we shall have a special medical exhibit that will show the latest advances in the fields of general surgery, breast, and endocrine surgery.
Thank you for your attendance and we hope that you will enjoy the conference.
