The Cultural Committee in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature held a lecture titled "Narrative Experiences" on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the South Arts College Theater. The event was attended by the committee's chairperson, Prof. Noriah Al-Roumi, and featured the two writers Dr. Suleiman Al-Shatti and Leila Al-Othman. The lecture was moderated by Dr. Iman Al-Sharhan, with the presence of several faculty members and interested students.
During the lecture, the narrative experiences of the two writers, Dr. Suleiman Al-Shatti and Leila Al-Othman, were presented, showcasing significant milestones in the history of Kuwaiti literature. These experiences were documented through various media outlets, including the magazines Al-Ra’id and Al-Arabi, as well as local radio.
Both guests agreed that the experience of the pioneers' generation was unique, as they lived through vastly different eras, from the era of the radio to the rise of social media and digital publishing, which enriched their literary journey.
Dr. Leila Al-Othman also spoke about her beginnings in writing across various forms of art, noting that she found harmony in writing novels with the support of her family and school, which helped shape her literary character. She discussed how her interests evolved with her maturation as a writer, highlighting her adoption of numerous important themes, especially the issue of women.
