Kuwait Association for Social Security Organizes "Scientific Forum for Social Security" in Cooperation with The Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies Center at Kuwait University and the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development

Under the patronage of Kuwait University President, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, the Kuwait Association for Social Security, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development and The Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies Center at Kuwait University, organized the "Scientific Forum for Social Security" during February 4-5, 2025 at the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies Center in Sabah Al-Salem University City, with the aim of enhancing the concept of social security in its various aspects.
In this regard, Acting Vice President for Research and Representative of Kuwait University President, Prof. Nouria Al-Kandari stated “On behalf of Kuwait University President, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, I am here today to inaugurate the first Social Security Forum. I take this opportunity to congratulate ourselves on the issuance of the Amiri Decree for Kuwait University President to assume this position, which is an important transitional stage for the university and encouraging everyone cooperation to elevate Kuwait University towards excellence and creativity,” indicating that the forum is a tripartite organization from the Kuwait Assosiation for Social Security, the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, and the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies Center at Kuwait University, which came to raise important and vital topics at the heart of the forum’s objectives. 
In turn, Acting Director of the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies Center and Conference Director, Prof. Yaqoub Al-Kandari, stressed that the Gulf Studies Center is always keen to come up with fruitful recommendations at the forum, and that Kuwait Association for Social Security was able to host this forum in cooperation with the General Secretariat for Planning to raise the issue of social security, which is closely linked to the components of development in its broad concept, as it includes several aspects, such as the political, social and educational aspects, which reflects the role of Kuwait University in hosting such important forums. 
The forum included three discussion sessions, the first day of which included two sessions that addressed the reality of social security in the State of Kuwait. 
The first session was entitled "Social Security, the Concept" and was chaired by the session moderator from the College of Education at Kuwait University, Department of Curricula and Teaching Methods, Prof. Abdullah Al-Hashem, where the former Dean of the College of Arts at Kuwait University and President of the National Society for Child Protection, Prof. Siham Al-Furaih, addressed the importance of spreading awareness on social security issues. 
For his part, the Professor of Anthropology and Sociology at the College of Social Sciences at Kuwait University, Dr. Mohammad Sulaiman Al-Haddad explained that the concept of social security is a comprehensive concept related to the set of practices and policies adopted by the state to protect the individual and society. 
In turn, Prof. Abdullah Sahar from the Department of Political Sciences at the College of Social Sciences in Kuwait University explained that community security includes all different aspects, which is based on the necessity of preserving the national identity of society. 
In another related context, Professor of Public Policy at the International University in Kuwait, Prof. Faisal Hamad Al-Munawer, confirmed that the concept of social security is a pillar of society, especially since the International Labor Organization has endeavored to link this concept to social risks and its role in achieving security and sustainable development in society.
The second session was entitled "The Reality of Social Security in the State of Kuwait" and was led by the Dean of the College of Education and former Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, Prof. Abdullah Mohammad Al-Sheikh, with the participation of Prof. Sami Abdullah Al-Duraiee from the Department of Private Law at the College of Law, Prof. Eisa Mohammad Al-Ansari, Professor of Fundamentals of Education at the College of Education, Dr. Malik Jassim Al-Rashid from the Department of Sociology and Social Service at the College of Social Sciences, and Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Learning Differences Association in Kuwait, Dr. Eisa Al Jassim, and the former Director of the Community Police Department, retired Brigadier General Abdulrahman Al-Abdullah.
