in Collaboration with Ministry of Health, Launches a Campaign for World Mental Health Day for the Fifth Consecutive Year
The Administration of Security and Safety at Kuwait University launched a campaign for World Mental Health Day in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in the lobby of College of Life Sciences at Sabah Al-Salem University Campus. The event was attended by Yousef Al-Khamis, Director of the Administration of Security and Safety at Kuwait University, and Esraa Bouhamad, Head of the Training Department at the Administration of Health Promotion of Ministry of Health.
In the beginning, Yousef Al-Khamis, Director of the Administration of Security and Safety at Kuwait University, stated that the campaign was organized in collaboration and coordination with Ministry of Health at the College of Life Sciences. He added that it was being held for the fifth consecutive year with the aim of raising awareness among students and university visitors about the positive and negative psychological effects in work and educational environments, as well as in university life in general, to ensure that the university remains a healthy and safe space. He concluded by expressing his gratitude to Dr. Nawaf Al-Hajri, Acting Dean of College of Life Sciences, and wishing health and safety for everyone.
For her part, Esraa Bouhamad, Head of the Training Department at the Administration of Health Promotion of Ministry of Health, stated that October 10 of each year is designated as Mental Health Day. She explained that this year, the World Mental Health Day campaign was held in the lobby of College of Life Sciences to highlight mental health in the workplace, the challenges that students and employees may face in a work environment, and how to cope with them.
She explained that the goal of the campaign was to familiarize participants with these challenges and how to cope with psychological stress, providing coping strategies through a series of sessions led by experts in health promotion. These sessions focus on three key areas: smoking, physical activity, and chronic diseases and their impact on mental health. She noted that a range of awareness guidelines will be provided on the topic of addiction, addressing what drives people, especially youth and students, toward addiction and how they can manage it. Additionally, the campaign will address chronic diseases and the psychological pressures that students may experience, offering guidance on how to cope with mental health challenges.
