
Prof. Al-Saeed: Kuwait University Seeks to Enhance Academic Cooperation and Develop Admission and Registration Policies
Kuwait University hosted the 20th meeting of the Deans of Admission and Registration at the Universities and Higher Education Institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries at Sabah Al-Salem University City on Thursday, January 23, 2025, under the slogan "Enhancing Academic Cooperation and Developing Admission Systems".
Acting President of Kuwait University, Professor Osama Al-Saeed, initiated the meeting with a speech in which he welcomed the participants, stressing the pivotal role played by Gulf universities in building societies based on knowledge and innovation, pointing out the importance of this meeting in enhancing academic cooperation and developing admission and registration policies in a way that enhances higher education outcomes and keeps pace with international classification standards.
Al-Saeed took the opportunity to praise the efforts dedicated to support the educational process in the GCC countries, stressing the need to unify visions and mechanisms to achieve sustainable development in the region. He affirmed that admission and registration systems represent a fundamental pillar in achieving quality education and preparing generations capable of facing future challenges.
For his part, Acting Dean of Admission and Registration at Kuwait University, Dr. Fadhel Abbas Aziz, expressed his happiness at hosting this important event, stressing that the meeting represents a golden opportunity to exchange experiences between universities in the GCC countries and develop admission mechanisms to serve development plans, noting that the meeting aims to unify efforts to develop admission and registration systems to keep pace with the needs of the labor market and the requirements of global classifications, which contributes to preparing competitive educational outcomes.
The meeting included three main sessions that addressed vital issues in the areas of admission and registration, where participants discussed ways to attract international students and develop admission systems to enhance competitiveness, the role of admission and registration deanships in improving international university ranking indicators, in addition to reviewing the recommendations of previous meetings and setting future visions for developing the educational process. The guidelines for receiving students with disabilities and mechanisms for providing them with the necessary support were also reviewed, in addition to highlighting successful models for developing admission and registration policies.
The meeting was concluded with a set of recommendations that stressed the importance of enhancing academic cooperation between GCC universities and developing admission mechanisms in line with the aspirations of higher education and the labor market, while emphasizing the continuation of holding these meetings to exchange experiences and expertise between Gulf universities.
The participants extended their thanks to Kuwait University for the warm reception and distinguished organization, looking forward to more joint cooperation in the future.
