On Monday, September 16, 2024, Acting Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Jassim Al-Hamdan and Assistant Dean for Student Activities Dr. Salem Al-Shammari visited the student housing in Sabah Al-Salem University City. This visit followed the partial relocation of students from Shuwaikh to the Shadadiyah area at the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, accompanied by the Director of Security and Safety, Mr. Yousef Al-Khamis, and the Supervisor of Student Housing, Nabil Al-Mufrih.
During the visit, a tour of the university housing facilities was conducted to review their preparations and readiness to welcome students. The Supervisor of Student Housing, Mr. Nabil Al-Mufrih, provided a comprehensive explanation of the housing details and features, emphasizing the importance of providing a comfortable and safe environment for students.
Male Student Housing
The male student housing facility consists of four towers along with an administrative building. Each tower features a ground floor and four repeating floors, with each tower containing 76 rooms distributed across the repeating floors. The total number of rooms in the student housing is 304. Additionally, the ground floor of each tower includes service facilities such as a reception area, a prayer room, security rooms, a dining hall, and other services.
Female Student Housing
The student housing for female students consists of three towers, along with an administrative building. Each tower features a ground floor and four repeating floors, with each tower containing 76 rooms distributed across the repeating floors. The total number of rooms in the female student housing is 228.
The new buildings feature rooms specifically designed for individuals with mobility disabilities, ensuring an inclusive environment for all students. Additionally, they include fitness and recreational facilities to promote the health and activity of students, as well as outdoor sports fields that allow students to engage in athletic activities in a safe environment.
There are also dedicated study rooms equipped with the latest technology to ensure an appropriate learning environment, as well as reception halls for guests and visitors, providing suitable spaces for family visits. The housing includes spacious gardens and courtyards that enhance the quality of life for residents. Additionally, there is a 24-hour surveillance system, along with high-quality security measures and internet access to ensure the safety and comfort of students.
One of the key features of the new housing is its prime location near the colleges in Sabah Al-Salem University City, which provides students with easy access to their colleges and university facilities without the need for long commutes. This significantly saves students time and effort, allowing them to focus on their studies and participate in university activities.
In this regard, Acting Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Jassim Al-Hamdan emphasized the importance of providing a comfortable and safe living environment for students during the visit. He praised the efforts made by the university housing management and the Administration of Security and Safety to ensure the comfort and safety of students. He noted that the new university housing will enhance the student experience by providing all the necessary services and facilities, contributing to their academic excellence.
Several scholarship students who were present during the visit praised the high standards of student housing, highlighting its distinction compared to other universities around the world.
