A Delegation from Kuwait University Participates in the 14th Scouting Camp for Scouts of Universities and Higher Education Institutions from GCC countries

A delegation from Kuwait University, led by Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Jasem Al-Hamadan, participated in the 14th scouting camp for university and higher education institution scouts from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The camp took place from August 23 to August 30, 2024, in the Sultanate of Oman, with 208 participants from 18 universities and educational institutions across the GCC.

In this regard, Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Jasem Al-Hamadan, stated that Kuwait University's participation in the camp aimed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and capabilities necessary for leading the community and achieving progress in various fields. It also sought to reinforce the message of unity and solidarity among the people of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, strengthen national belonging and pride in the Gulf identity, and showcase the skills and capabilities of university scouts in shaping and leading the future of the region.
Prof. Al-Hamadan added that the camp aimed to strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood among the participating scouts and enhance the exchange of experiences and cultures. It also focused on introducing the participants to the customs and traditions of the Gulf countries, as well as highlighting the tourist, environmental, and cultural landmarks of the Sultanate of Oman, with special emphasis on the Dhofar Governorate.
The camp also aimed to develop the participants' physical, mental, social, and spiritual skills, instill positive values, and encourage self-discovery while fostering a spirit of loyalty and national belonging. It sought to enhance leadership and teamwork skills through scouting activities and challenges, and to promote the principles and values of unity, citizenship, and cooperation among students from higher education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The camp included a variety of activities, such as visits to historical and cultural sites, a sports day, and several training workshops. These activities were designed to encourage students to engage socially and contribute positively to society, promote sportsmanship and fair competition within the framework of scouting activities, stimulate interest in the environment, sustainability, and natural resource conservation, and enhance cultural connections and communication among university students. Additionally, the camp provided opportunities for personal learning and development through diverse scouting experiences and interaction with peers from different backgrounds.

Achievements of Kuwait University Scouts Team
Acting Supervisor of the Sports Activities Department Dr. Tarek Dashti stated that Kuwait University Scouts team received 8 Excellence Medals at the camp. Abbas Arti, Mohammed Abdulrida, Homoud Al-Shammari, Omar Maalouf, Farhan Al-Rashidi, AbdulKarim Al-Saeed, Ahmed Al-Mutairi, and Yasser Al-Mutairi were each awarded Excellence Medals in recognition of their efforts. Additionally, the team earned 4 First-Class Excellence Medals in the "I Am a Scout" category. Abbas Arti received the "Best Scout Team Leader" medal, while Mohammed Abdulrida was awarded the "Best Scout and Participation" medal. Furthermore, Homoud Abdullatif Al-Shammari, a student from Oman included in Kuwait University delegation, received the "Camp Cup Winner" medal, and was recognized as a "Symbol of Gulf Unity, Omani Scout, and Participant with the Kuwaiti Delegation."
The participation of Kuwait University delegation in this camp represents an important step towards enhancing the university's presence in local, regional, and global student forums.
