The Administration of Security and Safety, in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, concluded the activities of the Traffic Awareness week under the patronage and presence of the Acting Assistant Secretary-General for Facility Affairs, Muhammad Al-Sulaiman, and the Director of the Administration of Security and Safety at Kuwait University, Yousef Al-Khamis. The event was also attended by the Assistant Director of Traffic Awareness at the General Traffic Department, Major Abdullah Bouhassan, and took place in the lobby of the College of Education at Sabah Al-Salem University City.
Major Abdullah Bouhassan, Assistant Director of Traffic Awareness at the General Traffic Department, stated that the General Traffic Department began cooperating with the Administration of Security and Safety in previous years. He expressed gratitude to Kuwait University for its kind invitation and their keenness on raising awareness through field visits to the campus. He emphasized the importance of this week-long awareness campaign aimed at fostering traffic awareness among students and offering guidance and advice.
He emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations and its importance in minimizing the risk of traffic accidents. He praised the role of the Administration of Security and Safety in collaborating with the Ministry of Interior to provide various awareness services. He added that students should not wait until they receive a violation to improve their behavior on the road, as compliance with these laws ensures their safety. He concluded his remarks by affirming the continued collaboration with the Administration of Security and Safety regarding traffic awareness, advocating for the continuation of this awareness campaign in the coming years to achieve the goal of enhanced traffic awareness.
In this regard, Director of the Administration of Security and Safety at Kuwait University, Youssef Al-Khamis, mentioned that this year's awareness campaign began in the lobby of the College of Engineering and concluded in the lobby of the College of Education. He stated that the awareness campaign is being held for the third consecutive year, noting that it started in the first year after the COVID-19 crisis. He indicated that while the number of accidents decreased in 2022, it did not reach the desired level, affirming that the goal for 2025 is to achieve a zero-accident rate.
He affirmed that communication is ongoing between the Administration of Security and Safety at Kuwait University and the General Traffic Department to organize this type of campaign. He pointed out that the university has accepted around 8,000 students for the 2024-2025 academic year, making it essential for them to receive appropriate awareness. He also mentioned that there is a free service available, which is roadside assistance, and that the Administration of Security and Safety is present throughout the week, 24 hours a day, to serve all members of the university community.
In conclusion, the participating administrations in the traffic awareness campaign were honored.
