Students from the Computer Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Petroleum won first place in the Huawei "Seeds for the Future 2024" competition.

The Helping Hands project team from the Computer Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Petroleum, Kuwait University, won first place in the Huawei competition held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The team members are Ahmed Al-Qattan, Taleb Al-Rifa'i, Mohamed Mahdi, Saad Al-Majidi, Ghanima Boabbas, and Maryam Al-Mutairi, under the supervision of Dr. Abbas Fairouz and Eng. Mariam Al-Jamea. Out of 26 teams from 14 countries, they qualified from the Middle East and Central Asia region for the final round in China with the other continents.
The Huawei Seeds for the Future program aims to equip these bright minds with the essential skills and mindsets needed to succeed in our fast-paced world. This platform is designed to offer a wide range of opportunities, including online courses, competitions, exchange programs, and scholarships. It seeks to provide talented youth from the Middle East and Africa with unparalleled STEM experiences, enabling them to pursue their dreams and make meaningful contributions to the global community.
It is noteworthy that this project won first place in the Huawei Technology and Digital Sciences Award and also secured first place as the Best Engineering Project at the 46th Engineering Design Exhibition by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences.
