The College of Graduate Studies at Kuwait University held the seventh meeting of its esteemed college council for the academic year 2023-2024 in the University Council meeting room in Sabah Al-Salem University City. During the meeting, the council approved the establishment of new master’s programs in various disciplines starting from the academic year 2025-2026, the programs include a master's program in Media at the College Arts, a master’s program in Anthropology at the College of Social Sciences, a master’s program in Criminal Law, and a master’s Program in Educational Design and Technology at the College of Education. The meeting was attended by the Acting Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, Prof. Ahmed Abdullah Al-Mekhyal, and Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Meshari Khalifa Al-Aifan, and several department heads from various university colleges.
Among the key items discussed and included in the agenda were: approval of the minutes of the previous meeting dated April 15, 2024, a review of the follow-up schedule for implementing decisions from the previous meeting dated April 15, 2024, and the Student Affairs memoranda: a memorandum regarding the acceptance of students with special needs into the Graduate College programs.
Another item discussed was the Academic Affairs memoranda: A memorandum regarding the submission of a request to add a contributor for graduate research projects other than the supervisor and the co-supervisor, subject to approval by the College of Graduate Studies, and a memorandum on recommendations resulting from a workshop for the academic faculty on how to teach the course "Scientific Writing and Communication Skills".
Additionally, discussions included Planning and Development memoranda: A memorandum regarding the ratio of Kuwaiti to non-Kuwaiti graduate students admitted annually to the College of Graduate Studies, a memorandum concerning the policy on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), and a memorandum regarding the budget of the Office of Consultation and Training at the College of Graduate Studies for the fiscal year 2023/2024.
