The Research Sector Visits the College of Engineering and Petroleum to Improve and Develop Laboratories Work at the College

With the aim of strengthening the research infrastructure, the Research Sector at Kuwait University visited the College of Engineering and Petroleum on Monday, June 24, 2024, to explore and identify effective methods to improve and develop laboratories and public facilities, which in turn facilitates operations and ensures the success of ongoing projects' outcomes. 


The Research Sector team included Acting Vice President for Research, Dr. Naser Al-Tannak and Assistant Vice President for Research Implementation and Finance, Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra. The team was received by Acting Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research and Graduate Studies. Prof. Surour Al-Otaibi. The visit included an introductory tour of the colleges' facilities and its most prominent achievements.


In this regard, Acting Vice President for Research, Dr. Al-Tannak emphasized the importance of this visit, explaining: "Our objective is to ensure that the laboratories and facilities in the College of Engineering and Petroleum are equipped to support advanced research and innovations, by addressing operational challenges and strengthening our infrastructure. This will allow us to pave the way for achieving greater success in our research projects."


Assistant Vice President for Research Implementation and Finance, Dr. Haneen Al-Ghabra added: "Financial and operational efficiency are crucial to the sustainability of our research initiatives, and we are committed to implementing strategies which contribute to streamline operations and optimize resource use. This ensures creating an optimal environment for researchers to conduct their research."


On his part, Acting Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research and Graduate Studies, Prof. Surour Al-Otaibi, conveyed his impression following the tour and discussions: "It is inspiring to witness the dedication and enthusiasm in our research community. The success of our current projects is a testament to the hard work and innovation of our faculty and students, and we look forward to the continuous cooperation and support from the Research Sector in order to raise our research capabilities."


During the tour, Prof. Al-Otaibi presented several ongoing projects at the labs, highlighting their success and impact on the university's research landscape. He concluded the visit with a fruitful discussion regarding potential improvements and collaborative efforts to enhance research capabilities at the College of Engineering and Petroleum, stressing Kuwait University's commitment to create an environment of excellence and innovation, and its constant dedication to support and enhance its research sectors. This visit embodies a vital step towards achieving these objectives and confirms the university's commitment to develop knowledge and technological progress. 


Prof. Al-Otaibi concluded his discussion stating that Kuwait University is one of the leading educational institutions in the region, and is recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, research innovation and community engagement.
