Kuwait University signed a memorandum of understanding with Mitsubishi Power Limited (Kuwait Branch), on Monday morning, 06/03/2024, in the University Council Hall in Sabah Al-Salem University City, in the presence of the Acting President of Kuwait University Prof. Nawaf Al-Mutairi, and Acting Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Jasim Al-Hamdan, and Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum, Prof. Khaled Al-Hazza.
Mitsubishi Power Limited (Kuwait Branch) was represented by the General Manager of the branch Eng. Ahmed Mounir, the Deputy General Manager of Mitsubishi Power Limited Eng. Buta Ozawa, and a number of Japanese engineers.
Acting President of Kuwait University Prof. Nawaf Al-Mutairi said that the ongoing agreements between Kuwait University and leading international companies has a role in strengthening cooperation frameworks in the academic, research and professional fields, as well as supporting university students in the field of training and qualification for the labor market. He stated that “Mitsubishi Company” is one of the distinguished companies that will succeed in enabling knowledge and technology to serve university students regarding the training program in the field of thermal energy generation. The agreement comes in line with enabling the private sector to contribute to providing university students with the necessary expertise in order to achieve sustainable development.
The General Manager of Mitsubishi Power Limited (Kuwait Branch), Eng. Ahmed Mounir explained that this is the first agreement between Kuwait University and Mitsubishi Power Limited, with the goal of exchanging various experiences in the field of thermal energy generation through the training program, which is primarily an educational program for trainees.
Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum Prof. Khaled Al-Hazzaa said that the ongoing cooperation between Kuwait University, represented by the College of Engineering and Petroleum, and major companies comes in accordance with the university’s plan to benefit from the expert knowledge and develop the various skills of university students. He indicated that an agreement with one of the major companies that has contracts regarding the operation of many electrical stations is an opportunity for engineering students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering to gain experience and scientific knowledge in the thermal power generation sector, hoping that the tireless efforts between Kuwait University and Mitsubishi Company will continue to conclude more agreements to include research and laboratories.
In the same regard, the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Jassim Al-Hamdan said that the role of Kuwait University is not limited to teaching its students, but also includes providing them with many different experiences and skills through signing more agreements with major international companies that would allow Kuwait University students to engage with the labor market.
