Kuwait University received the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies building in Sabah Al-Salem University City

Kuwait University announced that the Committee for Receiving Contracting and Construction Works (Major Projects) in Sabah Al-Salem University City approved the partial preliminary receipt of the project for the southern and northern buildings of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies in Sabah Al-Salem University City, taking into account the comments of the committee members at the meeting held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in the new college building in Sabah Al Salem University City.
The Chairman of the Committee, Acting Secretary General of Kuwait University Prof. Fayez Al-Dhafiri said that the receiving committee approved the receipt of the facilities mentioned within the CSSL work package, contract No. (KU/KUCP/C0900/11-12), which is related to the construction, completion, and maintenance of the buildings of the College of Social Sciences, the College of Law, the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, the prayer hall, and the Faculty Club (1) in Sabah Al-Salem University City, after reviewing the reports prepared by the Administration of Construction and Maintenance regarding the initial receipt of these projects. The committee then conducted a field tour to inspect and ensure the readiness of the project sites.
Prof. Al-Dhafiri said that receiving the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies building in Sabah Al-Salem University City represents a translation of the concept of social responsibility that Kuwait University seeks to establish by contributing to the launch of another public university by providing space capacity for its colleges, in addition to enhancing cooperation and integration in the field of administration and human resources. 
The total building area of the southern building at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies in Sabah Al-Salem University City amounts to 29,926 m2, consisting of two basements, a ground floor, two mezzanines, and 7 floors. The building includes 3 lecture halls that hold 120 students each, 6 classrooms with a capacity of 60 students, 7 classrooms with a capacity of 40 students, and 8 laboratories for teaching the Holy Quran. The building also contains 7 computer laboratories, a library with a capacity of 147 seats, 276 administrative offices, and 18 prayer rooms.
As for the northern building of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies in Sabah Al-Salem University City, its total building area is 16,391 m2, consisting of two basements, a ground floor, two mezzanines, and 5 floors. The building includes two lecture halls with a capacity of 120 students, a hall with a capacity of 100 students, 6 classrooms with a capacity of 60 students, 7 classrooms with a capacity of 40 students, a classroom with a capacity of 16 students, and 4 laboratories for teaching the Holy Quran. In addition to 7 computer laboratories, 4 language laboratories, a library with a capacity of 156 seats, 112 administrative offices, and 4 prayer rooms.
The Committee for Receiving Contracting and Construction Works consisted of the Chairman of the Committee, the Acting Secretary-General of the University Prof. Fayez Munshar Al-Dhafiri, and Acting Director of the Construction Program at Kuwait University Dr. Abdullah Awad Al-Hindal, Acting Assistant Secretary-General for Facilities Affairs, Mr. Muhammad Saud Al-Sulaiman, and Assistant Vice President for University Sites Dr. Majed Abdel Razzaq Majeed, and the committee’s rapporteur, Director of the University’s Administration of Construction and Maintenance, Eng. Hamida Ajeel Al-Khalidi, Director of the Second Region Projects Department at the General Authority for Housing Welfare, Eng. Ali Abdel-Saheb Ahmed Al-Saleh, and the representative of the Ministry of Public Works, Eng. Sabika Al-Zamami, and the Director of Project Management in the Educational Facilities and Planning Sector in the Ministry of Education, Eng. Muhammad Fahad Al-Anezi.
